GRANBY ROCK

GRANBY ROCK
‘Granby Rock’ uses rubble and construction waste from the refurbishments in Granby mixed with cement, sand and aggregate to make a range of products. Surfaces dotted with old bricks, roofing slates and broken tiles are ground and polished, bringing a highly decorative quality to these everyday materials - echoing terrazzo or polished marble in its appearance. The material was developed by Assemble and Will Shannon to make new mantelpieces for the 10 houses on Cairns Street.

Whilst every batch of Granby Rock contains the same basic ingredients of found rubble, pigmented cement, sand and aggregate, each piece is unique in its appearance.
